On January 19, 2024, officials from the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus and the Armed Forces of the United States of America (USA) signed the Bilateral Defense Cooperation Program for 2024 in Nicosia.
As outlined in a press release from the National Guard General Staff on Tuesday, the program encompasses various initiatives, including joint exercises and training sessions conducted in both Cyprus and the USA. The focus areas include special operations, battlefield First Aid provision, maritime cooperation, and search and rescue operations. Furthermore, the program facilitates the participation of National Guard Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) in specialized schools and seminars hosted in the USA.
A statement posted on the X platform by the US Embassy in Cyprus highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Cyprus and the USA through the signing of the military cooperation plan for 2024. The post expresses anticipation for an expanded collaboration, encompassing military education, bilateral exercises, and other engagements with the National Guard.
