Cyprus enjoys fourth consecutive day of zero new cases

Over 760 people, including 140 passengers and repatriated persons were checked for the virus, all coming back negative

Cyprus maintained its positive streak on Friday, which marked the fourth consecutive day of no new coronavirus cases.

A total of 763 samples were checked for the virus on Friday, including 140 passengers and repatriated persons and over 150 employees who returned to work as restriction measures were eased, all coming back negative.

Total known coronavirus cases in the Republic of Cyprus have been stable at 985 since Monday. Epidemiological data released on Wednesday showed 818 (85.2%) cases have recovered from the virus. The data also showed the island’s coronavirus fatality rate stood at 2.5%.

On Friday, just one coronavirus patient was being treated at the Famagusta General Hospital. A second patient was until recently being treated at the Nicosia General Hospital ICU was transferred to a general ward after he tested negative for the virus multiple times.
