Cyprus is considering whether to accept an invitation from the President of the United States to take part in a special session on Feb. 19 focused on rebuilding Gaza, government officials said Monday.
Speaking on state radio, government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said Cyprus has requested clarifications before making a final decision. He emphasized that the government supports the Trump peace plan for Gaza, but only if it aligns with international law and UN resolutions.
Letymbiotis noted that the summit will include selected EU nations and other countries, meaning a unified European position is unlikely.
For now, Cyprus is taking a careful approach, weighing its role in the discussions while ensuring its participation fits both international obligations and national interests.
