More than one in five people aged 16 and over in Cyprus used tobacco or related nicotine products every day in 2025, according to figures released by Eurostat.
The rate in Cyprus reached 22.6%, compared with 16.5% across the European Union. While Cyprus remained above the EU average, its figure was slightly lower than in 2022, when 23.3% of people in the same age group reported daily use. This represents a fall of 0.7 percentage points over the three-year period.
The Eurostat figures cover a range of products, including conventional tobacco, e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches and heated tobacco products.
There was a significant difference between men and women in Cyprus. Daily use was reported by 32.3% of men aged 16 and over, compared with 13.3% of women.
A similar gender gap was recorded across the EU. In 2025, 20.8% of men reported daily use of tobacco or related products, compared with 12.6% of women.
Overall, 77.5% of people across the EU said they did not use tobacco or related products, or had not used them during the 12 months before the data was collected.
