The Cyprus National Guard and the United States Armed Forces recently wrapped up a joint military exercise aimed at enhancing cooperation and boosting operational readiness in special operations. The exercise, dubbed “Proteas-04,” took place between February 17 and 28 as part of the Bilateral Defense Cooperation Program between the two countries.

The drills focused on a range of special operations scenarios, including underwater explosives placement, target engagement, and covert exits from hostile coastlines. The exercise aimed to improve coordination, knowledge sharing, and interoperability between the two forces.

National Guard Chief Lieutenant General George Tsitsikostas and US Ambassador to Cyprus Julie S. Davis observed part of the drills, underscoring the importance of the growing defense partnership.

The joint exercise is part of a broader effort by Cyprus and the US to strengthen military ties, reflecting the deepening cooperation between the two nations. The Cyprus National Guard said such activities play a key role in boosting operational readiness and fostering closer collaboration between their armed forces.
