Family, friends, and members of the Limassol Nautical Club greeted Kontides with enthusiasm. Representing the government, Maritime Minister Marina Hadjimichael and the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) Vice President Kalli Hadjiioannou honored Kontides with a silver wreath, while Larnaca Deputy Mayor Iasonas Iasonidis presented him with an olive branch.

Hadjiioannou praised Kontides for his achievement, stating, "Twelve years and one day later, you bring us a second medal. All of Cyprus and the KOA are proud of you." Kontides expressed his gratitude, highlighting the "big heart" of Cyprus and thanking the nation for its support.
