Daily new cases in Cyprus mark steady climb

The Health Ministry on Tuesday announced 176 coronavirus cases on Tuesday, marking a steady increase in the number of daily cases. Total coronavirus cases reached 33,567.

No coronavirus fatalities were recorded, with the death toll remaining steady at 230.

The new cases emerged after 27,762 tests were conducted. Among new cases, 83 involved people who tested positive to a rapid test.

The remaining 53 were contacts, two were airport arrivals, 27 were people who took the initiative to get tested, eight were tested at a general hospital, one was tested either upon the suggestion of their GP or as part of a special health group, while two were tested via rapid test at private labs.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 78 coronavirus patients, 25 of which are in critical condition.

22 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, three of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 24 patients, 16 of which are in the ICU. 31 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital where five are in the ICU, while one is at the Makario hospital in Nicosia.
