A delivery rider was punched and kicked on a busy Limassol road Friday afternoon, with the attack caught on video as cars waited at traffic lights nearby.
The video, published by RoadReportCY, shows two men involved in the attack on a Foody rider on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue at around 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 2.
Police have begun investigating even though they have not received an official complaint, according to information obtained by Kathimerini.
When the recording starts, the rider is standing beside his fallen bicycle and delivery equipment, with a black BMW X3 alongside him.
The attack moves from beside the car onto a raised traffic island. Punches and kicks can be seen. At one point, the rider is held around his upper body and neck in what a witness described as a headlock.
The witness told RoadReportCY that the trouble began just before filming started, as the rider cycled past the waiting cars.
“One of them reached out of the window, grabbed the courier by his delivery bag, and pulled him to the ground. They then got out of the car and started hitting him,” the witness said.
That alleged first grab and fall were not filmed. The attack that followed was captured on camera.
The witness said the men later drove away in the BMW. The reason for the attack remains unclear.
RoadReportCY says it has sent the original video, witness information, and vehicle details to Cyprus Police Headquarters. It has also urged the rider to speak to police and make a complaint.
There was no information about injuries or arrests in the reports provided.
