Eight new coronavirus cases detected

Five of Monday's new cases involved contacts of another known case, with the specific cluster so far amounting to nine persons

The health ministry announced eight new coronavirus cases on Monday, when 1,960 tests were conducted, with the new cases raising the sum of cases detected in the Republic of Cyprus since the outbreak of the virus in March to 1,534.

Two of Monday’s new cases were detected among the samples collected at general hospitals, with both cases tested after developing symptoms.

Another new case involved a person who took the initiative to get tested after developing symptoms.

The remaining five new cases involved cases of another known case that was announced on September 9, with the specific cluster so far amounting to nine persons.

The Famagusta general hospital is currently treating four coronavirus patients, one of which is in the ICU, while one patient was discharged on Monday. One more coronavirus patient is intubated at the Nicosia general hospital ICU.
