Authorities are investigating the death of an 89-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Paralimni on Friday evening.
Milou Glykenou was hit around 5:55 p.m. on Protaras Avenue by a car driven by a 31-year-old woman. Emergency responders rushed Glykenou to Famagusta General Hospital before she was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday.
Police from the Paralimni station and the Famagusta Traffic Department are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. Details about what led to the collision have not yet been released.
