The great wind-off begins: A blustery weekend with a warm welcome

It's a high-stakes weather showdown as the wind puts up a fight against the rising temperatures.

Newsroom

A "seasonal low pressure system" has decided to grace our area with its presence. But don't let the technical jargon fool you. This is a high-stakes battle between the sun and the wind, and things are about to get interesting.

Today, the sun is playing it cool, with the weather staying "mostly clear." It's giving us a classic, cloudless day. But wait, the winds are not having it! They're coming in hot, or, well, strong, from the northwest to northeast, with gusts of 4 to 5 Beaufort. This means the sea is going to be "slightly rough to rough," so it's probably not the best day for a leisurely swim. As for temperatures, we're looking at a manageable 31°C on the coasts and inland, and a crisp 20°C up in the mountains.

Tonight, the winds will settle down a bit, but they're still feeling feisty. They'll drop to 3 to 4 Beaufort, with some temporary bursts up to 5 Beaufort. The sea will stay "slightly rough," so you might want to postpone that midnight dip. Temperatures will drop to a comfortable 19°C inland, around 21°C on the coasts, and a cool 11°C in the mountains.

As we head into the new week, the weather forecast is "mostly clear" for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. The sun seems to be winning the long game, as temperatures will "gradually rise" until Monday, reaching "slightly above average climatic values." Tuesday, however, is a bit of a wildcard, with "no significant change expected."

So, there you have it. The sun is on the rise, but the wind is putting up a good fight. It's a weather showdown for the ages!
