Expect a breezy mix of rain, hail, and sunshine this weekend

A little sunshine, a little thunder and just enough chill to keep the blankets close.

Well, it seems our fickle friend Winter just isn’t ready to pack up quite yet. Though the calendar may say otherwise, the skies have their own ideas, and they’re a little dramatic at the moment. We’re in for a few more days of weather that can’t quite make up its mind. Think gentle sunshine in the morning, then suddenly clouds, a clap of thunder, maybe even a dash of hail. Let’s ease into what’s ahead.

Today begins on a friendly note. The skies will be mostly clear in the early hours, with some extra clouds dotting the landscape here and there. But as the day rolls on, those clouds will gather strength. By midday, they’ll start to build, especially over the mountains, the northern regions, and inland. That’s when we can expect scattered showers, and in some spots, an isolated thunderstorm might roll through. If you’re in one of those higher-up areas, don’t be surprised if a little hail joins the show.

Winds will be mostly southwesterly to northwesterly, gentle to moderate in strength, enough for a bit of a breeze, but not enough to turn your umbrella inside out. Along the windward coast, it may feel a bit stronger for a time. The sea will be slightly rough overall, though it might get a bit rowdier in local spots.

As for temperatures, they’ll rise nicely through the day. Inland areas will see a high around 28°C, the western coast will linger closer to 25°C, and the rest of the coastline should sit comfortably at around 27°C. Up in the mountains, where the air always has a touch more bite, it’ll top out at about 21°C.

Tonight, the skies will turn mostly cloudy, especially across the western half of the island. Later on, expect a few showers and possibly a lone thunderstorm making a quiet appearance. Winds will shift around to come from the northeast to southeast, staying light to moderate. The sea won’t settle down much, remaining just a bit unsettled. As for temperatures, things will cool off to about 15°C inland, around 18°C by the coasts, and a brisk 9°C in the mountain villages, perfect sleeping weather, if you ask us.

Saturday looks to be a patchwork of sun and clouds, with some local showers in the mix and maybe a thunderstorm here or there. Hail is still a possibility during those more energetic downpours, but again, nothing widespread. Keep an umbrella or a good rain hat nearby, just in case.

Sunday starts off calm and mostly clear, with a soft morning light. But by midday, the clouds are expected to thicken again. That brings us back to the familiar rhythm; some isolated showers and perhaps a thunderstorm, especially in the mountains, the interior, and the northern regions.

Monday carries on the same tune. A clear morning, some clouds drifting in through the day, and by the afternoon, the chance of scattered showers. An isolated rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out, particularly in the usual spots inland and up in the hills.

As for temperatures through the weekend and into Monday, they’ll hold fairly steady. No big swings expected, just hovering around or slightly below what’s typical for this time of year.

So there you have it. A few more days of playful, sometimes pouty weather as winter clings to its final act. Whether you’re staying in with a warm drink or venturing out with a raincoat tucked under your arm, we hope you find comfort in the cozy and beauty in the unpredictable.
