Extreme heat warning: Up to 41°C

Coastal areas may experience low clouds

A new yellow warning for extremely high temperatures was issued on Thursday afternoon by the Meteorological Service.

According to the announcement, the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 41 degrees Celsius in inland areas and around 32 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains.

The warning will be in effect from eleven in the morning on Friday until six in the evening of the same day.

Today, the weather will be mainly sunny and warm, with occasional slightly increased low clouds in the western coastal areas. The winds will initially be southeasterly to southwesterly, weak, at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming mainly southwesterly to northwesterly by the afternoon, weak to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort, locally reaching moderate, 4 Beaufort. However, in the southern and eastern coastal areas, the winds will be strong, at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly disturbed, while in the southwest, it will be temporarily slightly disturbed in the afternoon. The temperature will rise to around 41 degrees in inland areas, around 33 in the west and southwest coastal areas, around 36 in the southeast, east, and north coastal areas, and around 32 degrees in the higher mountains.

In the evening, the weather will remain mainly clear, but later, there might be occasional increased low cloudiness in some coastal areas. During the late-night hours, there is a possibility of forming scattered fog, especially in the southeastern parts of the island. The winds will be mainly northwesterly to northeasterly, and in the northern coastal areas, southeasterly, weak, at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly disturbed. The temperature will drop to around 23 degrees in inland areas and coastal regions, and around 20 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday the weather will be mainly sunny and particularly warm. The temperature will gradually rise significantly above the average climatic values for this season.
