The Cyprus Cancer Society has issued a warning about fraudsters posing as fundraisers for the organization, visiting homes and illegally soliciting money.
In an official statement, the Society emphasized that all legitimate fundraisers are conducted only after obtaining a permit from the Ministry of Interior. Authorized volunteers are required to carry a copy of this permit and provide a receipt with each donation, featuring official fundraising logos and the permit number.
The Society also highlighted that door-to-door fundraising is prohibited by law.
“We urge all citizens to report such incidents to the police. These fraudulent activities harm our cause and undermine our efforts,” the statement read.
The Cyprus Cancer Society reaffirmed its dedication to supporting cancer patients, noting that its work continues thanks to the generosity of the Cypriot public.
