The sudden death of 21-year-old Dimitriana Siapani has left her family and community in shock and grief. Dimitriana died on October 22 at Nicosia General Hospital, following a period of severe illness that began shortly after a trip to Italy.
Her family has filed a formal complaint with authorities, accusing medical staff of negligence in her care. Police in Nicosia are now investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to reports, Dimitriana first sought treatment at Famagusta Hospital for intense headaches, but her condition worsened, prompting a transfer to Nicosia General Hospital. Medical personnel reportedly diagnosed her with meningitis only after her illness had progressed to a critical stage.
A mandatory autopsy has been performed, and samples have been collected for further toxicological and scientific analysis to clarify the cause of death.
Dimitriana’s funeral is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, at 1:00 p.m., at the Church of All Saints in Deryneia. Her family has requested that attendees wear white in her honor.
In a statement, the family said:
"With deep sorrow, we announce the untimely loss of our beloved Dimitriana. The funeral will be held on Sunday at the Church of All Saints in Deryneia at 1:00 p.m., where the family will receive condolences. We request that those attending the service come dressed in white."
