A fatal road accident occurred on Wednesday morning, April 16, 2025, claiming the life of 69-year-old Michalis Christoforou from Agrokipia.
At approximately 8:30 AM, a 37-year-old man was riding a motorcycle along Limassol Avenue in Strovolos when, under circumstances currently under investigation, he struck Christoforou as the older man was attempting to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing.
Christoforou was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The motorcyclist, also injured in the incident, was transported to the same hospital. He received treatment for his injuries and was later discharged.
A preliminary alcohol test conducted on the motorcyclist showed a zero reading.
The 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal accident and is assisting authorities with the ongoing investigation.
The Nicosia Traffic Police are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
