Suspect was already wanted over an earlier domestic violence complaint filed by the child’s mother.

Police in Limassol are investigating the reported abduction of a two-year-old child by his 29-year-old Turkish Cypriot father after a complaint was filed by the child’s 35-year-old British mother.

According to authorities, the incident happened on Wednesday morning at the mother’s residence in the Limassol district. Investigators say the father arrived at the home with another individual and forcibly took the child before leaving the scene.

Police later determined that the suspect had crossed back into the occupied areas with the child. Officials are preparing to issue an arrest warrant against him.

Investigators also discovered that the man was already wanted in connection with a domestic violence case reported by the mother in 2025 after she relocated from the occupied territories to the government-controlled areas of Cyprus.

Authorities are now examining how the suspect entered the government-controlled areas and later returned across the divide. Police are also reviewing a social media video uploaded by the father that allegedly shows him inside a vehicle with the child.
