The father of 19-year-old Styliani Giorgalli, who died in a car accident on Oct. 21, 2024, has received a second request to pay for a replacement Takata airbag linked to her death.
Styliani was killed when the airbag deployed during a crash on the Avgorou-Frenaros road. According to AKEL Member of Parliament Costas Costas, Styliani’s father, Giannos Giorgallis, contacted him to report that the vehicle dealership is demanding €150 to replace the defective airbag.
“Shame! Enough is enough! You’re toying with the pain of people who unjustly lost their children,” Costas wrote in a social media post. He added that grieving parents, including Giorgallis and Maria Loui, whose son Kyriakos Oksinos also died due to a Takata airbag, have received similar requests.
The dealership involved had officially ceased operations months earlier. Costas called on authorities to respect the grief of the families affected by the deadly Takata airbags and to stop imposing these costs on them.
