The installation of smart parking technology has begun across the Paralimni–Deryneia Municipality as part of the national "Smart Cyprus" initiative, which aims to introduce digital solutions in local communities.
Funded through the Recovery and Resilience Facility and coordinated by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, the project is being implemented by Cyta.
Under the programme, 2,340 smart sensors will be placed in parking spaces throughout all municipal districts. The system is designed to provide real-time information on parking availability, helping both residents and visitors locate free spaces more efficiently.
Municipal authorities expect the technology to improve the management of public parking areas and reduce the time spent searching for parking.
The initiative forms part of the municipality's ongoing efforts to adopt digital infrastructure and modern services that support sustainable urban development and improve everyday life for residents.
