A fire that erupted on a 22-foot tugboat at Limassol port was extinguished by firefighters on Thursday afternoon, officials reported.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the vessel's galley area. Local fire crews responded swiftly with two fire engines, employing water hoses and breathing apparatus to contain the blaze. Ventilation measures were also taken to clear smoke from the scene.
The boat’s owner, who was inside at the time, inhaled smoke and received on-site medical attention from paramedics. Fortunately, no severe injuries were reported.
Fire service spokesperson Andreas Kettis shared details of the response on the social media platform X, noting the professionalism and efficiency of the Limassol fire team.
