Cyprus has seen 10 deaths this flu season from complications related to the virus, according to Elisabeth Constantinou, the Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health. The victims were primarily elderly individuals with existing health conditions, a group considered especially vulnerable to the flu.
Constantinou stated that these patients were hospitalized, with the flu being identified as the primary cause of their complications. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed following specialized procedures carried out by the World Health Organization using specific software systems.
With the flu season in full swing, health officials are urging the public, especially those in higher-risk categories, to take extra precautions to avoid the virus. Flu-related hospital admissions have been steadily increasing, highlighting the importance of vaccination and early treatment for those most at risk.
