From gigabytes to watts: Telcos' evolution into energy providers

Andreas Neokleous, CEO of Cyta, at the Green Agenda Cyprus Summit

Press Release

Andreas Neocleous

Andreas Neocleous is the first CEO of Cyta, Cyprus’ largest telecommunications organization, to have been appointed from the private sector. On assuming his duties in January 2019, he redefined the organization’s vision and set it on a course of growth and dynamic evolution, which has since resulted in a significant increase in revenue and profitability.

Under his leadership, Cyta dealt effectively with COVID-19, simultaneously supporting households, businesses and all state services. During the same period, he negotiated and signed a landmark agreement allowing the broadcasting of all Cypriot football matches by all the island’s TV platforms.

Before taking up his duties at Cyta, he was, among others, Director of Business and Customer Experience at MTN Cyprus, Commercial Manager at Ericsson and a Senior Technology Analyst at Goldman Sachs in London and New York. Through the course of his career, he has gained deep knowledge and experience of issues relating to leadership, reform, modernization and corporate culture transformation.

He has a PhD in Telecommunications & Digital Signal Processing and a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, both from Imperial College University, London.

The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit

The purpose of the Green Agenda Cyprus Summit, held for the first time in Cyprus, is to support the efforts towards Cyprus' Green Transition, aiming to make our country an example of ecological living and sustainable development.

The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit will host influential leaders from the nation's business community, alongside keynote speakers of international renown who will captivate and motivate the audience. Notably, the government's participation will underscore the importance of its role in shaping the vision and strategies for the green transition. Deliberations and presentations will center on the critical examination of climate change risks and their far-reaching effects on human life, the financial sector, industry, real estate, and insurance.

The production of renewable energy sources, storage, and optimal smart distribution, financing the green transition, sustainability, and the evolution of the food production chain, as well as waste management, will all be at the heart of the Green Agenda Cyprus Summit 2024.

The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit will take place on May 20th at the Hilton Hotel with the support of the Central Bank of Cyprus. Platinum Sponsors include the Bank of Cyprus, Hellenic Bank, Eurobank, Alpha Bank, Astrobank, and Gold Sponsor EY, Dark Horse Cyta, Silver Partner SKLAVENITIS, AUDI, and Ιnvest Cyprus, Energy Partners Eunice Energy Group and team Green Energy.
