From sun worship to rain dance...we are not amused!

It was summer... for five minutes. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming of 'Will it rain? Will it not? Who knows?'

Newsroom

OK, people of Cyprus (or should I say, my dear children of Aphrodite, proud descendants of the ancient Cypriot sun-worshippers and halloumi connoisseurs), I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news? It’s Friday! You survived another week of chaos, deadlines, traffic jams, and pretending to be productive while scrolling through memes. The weekend is knocking on the door, and so is the perfect excuse to “go for just one coffee” that somehow turns into a full-day affair.

So, there you have it! Enjoy today’s warmth while it lasts because by Sunday, it might feel like winter took one last victory lap.

The bad news? Well, brace yourselves: winter has decided it’s not quite done messing with us yet. Yes, after a delightful taste of summer, the weather gods have flipped the script. Cooler temperatures and rain are making a dramatic comeback—just in time to ruin all your outdoor plans. That cute outfit you had picked out? Get ready to cover it with a jacket. That barbecue you planned? Might need a plan B involving umbrellas and optimism.

The Forecast:
Today – The sky will have mood swings, with medium and high clouds playing peekaboo throughout the day. Winds will be all over the place, blowing mainly from the northeast to southeast at 3-4 Beaufort, sometimes throwing a tantrum and reaching 4-5 Beaufort. The sea? A little rough—like your morning before coffee. Temperatures will be generous, reaching 31°C inland (aka summer mode), 29°C on the west coast, 25°C on the rest of the coast, and 23°C in the mountains, for those who enjoy a little chill.

Tonight – Mostly clear, but low clouds might sneak in, just to keep things interesting. Winds will shift to the west-northwest, staying in the 3-4 Beaufort range, occasionally getting feisty at 4-5 Beaufort. The sea will be on the rough side—so maybe don’t test your sea legs tonight. Temperatures will take a nosedive: 10°C inland (yes, double digits), 13°C on the west coast, 11°C elsewhere, and 8°C in the mountains—because why not keep you guessing?

Saturday – Mostly clear, but watch out for sneaky clouds, especially around noon and early afternoon. These could drop some surprise rain, mostly in the mountains and inland. Consider this nature’s way of reminding you to always carry an umbrella.

Sunday – The weather gets even moodier, with lots of clouds and scattered rain showers—maybe even a few storms for extra drama. If you had picnic plans, the universe says “lol, no.”

Monday – More clouds, more possible rain, mostly in the mountains. The temperature will keep playing games, cooling down significantly over the weekend, then warming up slightly on Monday—just enough to confuse your wardrobe choices.

So, there you have it! Enjoy today’s warmth while it lasts because by Sunday, it might feel like winter took one last victory lap. Time to find those forgotten jackets and reconsider those outdoor brunch plans. Happy Friday, and may your weekend be as unpredictable as this weather!
