Furnace temperatures for start of the week

Clear skies expected to turn cloudy and wet by mid-week

A low pressure system and a relatively warm air mass are affecting Cyprus, mixing high temperatures with variable wind at least in the early part of the week.

Monday skies will be mostly clear with light winds in the early part of the day, starting with variable direction and then developing into southwesterly and northwesterly light to moderate, while winds along the south coast and parts out west will be moderate to strong.

The sea will be relatively calm until noon while there will be choppy waters in the afternoon along the coastline in the south and parts in the west.

Tuesday weather will remain mostly clear with a chance of dust in the atmosphere that could possibly affect air quality

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 41° Celsius inland, 35 in the south and eastern parts, around 33 in the rest of the coastal regions and 30 on the mountains.

Evening skies will be mostly clear with minimum temperatures registering 26° inland, 24 all around the coastal regions while it will be 21 degrees up on the mountains.

Tuesday weather will remain mostly clear with a chance of dust in the atmosphere that could possibly affect air quality. No alerts were issued as of Monday morning.

Clouds are expected to set in by Wednesday while Thursday there is also a chance of rain showers in parts of the island.

High temperatures are expected to drop in the middle of the week.
