Press Release
Gastronomos magazine and Kathimerini are presenting the Gastronomos Quality Awards 2026 for the 12th consecutive year—an institution that honors Cypriot gastronomy, the authenticity of local products, and the dedication of producers who create them with passion and respect for tradition.
This year’s ceremony carries particular symbolism, as it will be held in the village square of Vouni in the Limassol district on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. The choice of Vouni is intentional. It is a conscious initiative to support mountain communities in the area that were affected by last year’s devastating wildfires, sending a message of solidarity, renewal and hope.
Through this year’s event, Gastronomos aims to highlight the richness of the Cypriot countryside and strengthen local communities, agritourism, small producers, small vendors and family businesses that continue to keep mountain villages alive.
Each year, Gastronomos contributors travel across Cyprus, discovering, tasting, and awarding products that reflect quality, innovation, and the story of the land. This year, the magazine’s 16-member tasting committee—made up of chefs, sommeliers, scientific researchers, and journalists—evaluated more than 85 products based on strict criteria of quality and authenticity.
A total of eight 'Quality Awards' will be presented to the top producers of the year, along with a special honorary award recognizing individuals whose work and contribution have left a meaningful mark on the country.
The Gastronomos Quality Awards are more than a celebration of taste. They are a recognition of the effort, passion, and dedication of Cypriot producers. Each award honors those who help preserve Cyprus’ identity and contribute to its continued development and sustainability.
After the ceremony, the event will continue with a large celebration dedicated to the Cypriot countryside, its flavors, and its people. Visitors will be able to enjoy local delicacies, meet producers and creators from the area, and explore stalls run by small vendors and local businesses from communities across the wider region.
The public is invited to attend in Vouni, Limassol, and support the people who continue to invest, create, and keep the heart of the Cypriot countryside alive. Everyone’s presence is a small but meaningful contribution to strengthening local communities and revitalizing areas that have faced hardship in recent times.
