Two Paphos women were arrested early Monday morning in connection with an assault case, where a Greek woman was injured in a knife attack days earlier.

According to police, two female suspects aged 24 and 25, have been arrested on assault charges in connection with an incident in Paphos which took place Friday evening.

The Greek woman had been sharing her apartment with a man from Syria

On Friday night around 9pm, a 27-year-old woman from Greece was rushed to the Emergency Room at Paphos General Hospital where doctors said she had sustained superficial wounds in the abdomen and parts of her back.

The Greek woman, who knew the first names of the two suspects, described as Greek Cypriot local women, said she was attacked after they went to her apartment and asked her to move out of the neighbourhood.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, the three women then got into a fight and as a result the 27-year-old female sustained injuries caused by a pocket knife.

CNA also reported a preliminary investigation suggested the motive behind the alleged attack was the fact that the Greek woman was sharing her apartment with a Syrian male.
