Health Minister shares concerning Covid data with Cabinet

Cyprus’ restrictions de-escalation strategy will be carefully implemented to avoid setbacks, Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou said on Tuesday

In a written statement, the Minister said he informed the Cabinet on Tuesday on the unfolding epidemiological picture with data provided by the government’s team of experts monitoring the pandemic.

The data indicated a deterioration in daily new cases, hospital admissions, and patients needing ICU treatment. Ioannou said the extensive spread of the virus across Cyprus can be seen through the hundreds of cases being detected on a daily basis despite attempts to immediately locate and isolate cases through tracking and tracing methods.

Despite signs of stabilization, Ioannou said a clearer picture of the epidemiological situation will become evident in the coming days, when the most recent relaxation of measures will be evaluated.
