Health Ministry announces three deaths, 113 cases

The new cases emerged after 24,780 tests were conducted, while Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 95 coronavirus patients

The Health Ministry on Wednesday announced three coronavirus fatalities and 113 new cases, raising the death toll to 217 and total cases detected so far to 32,072.

The fatalities involved three men, aged 61, 77, and 86, all of whom suffered from underlying health conditions.

The new cases emerged after 24,780 tests were conducted. Of the 113 new cases, 56 involved people who tested positive to a rapid test.

The remaining 27 were contacts, one was an arrival to a Cyprus airport, eight were people who took the initiative to get tested, 12 were people who got tested at general hospitals, three involved residents of migrant camps, while six got tested via rapid test at private labs.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 95 coronavirus patients, 36 of which are in critical condition.

20 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, five of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 35 patients, 21 of which are in the ICU. 37 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital where seven are in the ICU, while three more are at the Makario hospital in Nicosia.
