Turkish Cypriot Ahmet Savaşan was elected Vice President of the GHTC back in April, an international forum in the healthcare travel industry.

Constantine Constantinides from Greece was elected Secretary General of the organisaion and he will also be spearheading an initiative to develop and administer an Assessment and Rating System and Awards Scheme to be handed out next year.

GHTC is involved with matters related to Healthcare Travel, working to raise awareness of Healthcare Travel as one of the world’s largest industries, supporting 100 million jobs and generating 12 per cent of world GDP.

But GHTC is not an official international body, says Christos Petsides, Secretary General Cyprus Health Services Promotion Board.

Petsides, who says GHTC is neither legally nor globally recognised, made a proposal for the entire Cypriot Board to leave the organisation unless Turkish Cypriots representing northern Cyprus are asked to leave.
