Hello June! Sunshine, a few showers, and warming temps ahead

A mostly clear start to the week with some afternoon showers in the mix and warmer days just around the corner.

Newsroom

It’s a brand new week and (almost) a brand new month! With June just getting started, here’s what the weather has in store.

This morning kicks off mostly clear and pleasant, but don’t forget the umbrella if you’re heading out later. By the afternoon, clouds will build up in some areas, bringing the chance of a quick shower or even a thunderstorm, especially over the mountains, inland spots, and possibly out east.

Winds will be blowing in from the southwest to northwest at a light to moderate breeze (that’s 3 to 4 Beaufort, if you're into the details). On the southern coast, it could pick up a bit in the afternoon, reaching moderate to strong levels (4 to 5 Beaufort). The sea will stay calm to slightly choppy.

Temperature-wise, expect it to heat up nicely. Around 30°C inland, 26°C along the west and southwest coast, 27°C elsewhere by the sea, and a cooler 20°C in the mountains.

Tonight will be mostly clear and calm, with a few clouds hanging around the western areas. Winds will settle to a light breeze, and temperatures will dip to around 18°C in most areas, dropping to a crisp 11°C in the higher mountain regions.

Looking ahead: Tuesday afternoon might bring a few showers over the mountains, but Wednesday and Thursday are looking bright and sunny. And here’s the bonus: temperatures will gradually rise through the week, climbing above the usual for this time of year.

Enjoy the start of June!
