Limassol could soon have its own captivating observation wheel, similar to the famous London Eye. An enthusiastic investor from Ukraine has proposed the ambitious €50 million project, aptly named "Hyperion," with hopes of bringing significant economic, cultural, and social benefits to the region.
According to a report by Philenews, the project aims to mark the beginning of a new era of technological development in Limassol, which is the second-largest city on the island. The old port area is the chosen location for this exciting endeavor.
The visionary "Hyperion" project was recently presented to the Limassol Municipal Council by the PPA Architects office, which has taken charge of the design. Although the Municipality is not responsible for this venture, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Cyprus Ports Authority, which seems to be supporting the proposal.
The impressive observation wheel is planned to soar approximately 147 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views of Limassol's coastline and the surrounding landscape. With 45 cabins, each capable of accommodating 6 to 12 people, "Hyperion" promises to be a magnificent attraction for locals and tourists alike.
The base of the wheel will be ingeniously designed with three levels, connected by a convenient spiral ramp. One of the key highlights of "Hyperion" is its engineering prowess, being six times lighter and four times more stable than the iconic London Eye.
The potential impact of "Hyperion" on Limassol's tourism and local economy is anticipated to be significant. Drawing inspiration from successful observation wheels worldwide, the project envisions a remarkable landmark that will enhance the city's appeal and bring in more visitors.
As the Cyprus Ports Authority appears to be favorable towards the project's implementation, it may not be long before Limassol's skyline is graced with the splendid "Hyperion" observation wheel. The project is already creating a buzz among residents and industry experts, eagerly awaiting its approval and commencement.
