Emergency crews rescued an injured person Wednesday afternoon after a fall on the rocks in the sea caves area of Ayia Napa, authorities said.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Center Larnaca (JRCC) reported that the National Search and Rescue Plan “NEARCHOS” was activated at 3:05 p.m. following the incident.

Personnel from the Famagusta Fire Station, the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK), the Marine and Port Police, and an ambulance from the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) responded to the scene. Fire Service rescuers retrieved the injured individual, who was then transported by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital for treatment.

Cyprus Civil Defence warned the public to avoid the Cape Greco sea caves, emphasizing that approaching or diving in the area is strictly prohibited. The Geological Survey Department has deemed the terrain dangerous due to increased erosion.
