Inland temperatures soar to 37°C amidst unstable weather

Unstable weather in Central Mediterranean

Newsroom

In an unexpected meteorological turn, the Daniel system has taken center stage, ushering in shifting weather patterns across central Mediterranean and Greece. With a mild low-pressure system hovering over the region, residents are advised to stay prepared for a day of fluctuating weather.

Today, the affected regions will start with clear skies, offering a brief respite from recent stormy weather. However, as the day unfolds, clouds will gather, particularly in mountainous areas.

Winds are expected to be variable during the early hours, blowing gently at a 3 Beaufort level. As the day progresses, these winds will shift from southwest to northwest, reaching a moderate 4 Beaufort level. This change in wind direction may impact outdoor activities and sea conditions.

Mariners and beachgoers are cautioned to exercise prudence as the sea is forecasted to become rough to somewhat choppy.

Temperature-wise, it will be a warm day, especially inland, where the mercury is predicted to soar to a scorching 37 degrees Celsius. Coastal areas won't offer much relief, with temperatures hovering around 33 degrees Celsius in the south and east, and approximately 31 degrees Celsius along the rest of the coastline. In the higher mountainous regions, the weather will be cooler, with temperatures stabilizing at a more comfortable 25 degrees Celsius.

As evening approaches, the skies are expected to clear once more. The winds will shift to a northwest to northeast direction, and along the northern coast, they will veer towards the southeast, blowing gently at a 3 Beaufort level. Sea conditions should ease into a more manageable state, ranging from calm to slightly choppy.

Overnight temperatures will provide some relief from the daytime heat, dropping to 20 degrees Celsius inland, around 22 degrees Celsius along the coast, and a brisk 15 degrees Celsius in the higher mountainous areas.

Looking forward to Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the weather is expected to stabilize with mostly clear skies and occasional patches of clouds. However, the most noticeable change during this period will be the gradual rise in temperatures. Temperatures will surpass the usual averages, indicating a period of above-average warmth for the region. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions as the summer heatwave continues to grip central Mediterranean and Greece.

In conclusion, as the Daniel system influences the region's weather, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay updated on local forecasts. It's a day of shifting conditions, with daytime temperatures rising and nighttime cooling. The upcoming days promise clear skies, but the heat will persist.
