At least 57 people were killed Monday in Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian officials in the blockaded territory.

Gaza’s civil defense agency said that by the afternoon, at least 51 people had died in a series of Israeli airstrikes.

Rescue teams recovered 15 bodies following a strike in Gaza City in the north, while dozens more were reported injured.

Later in the day, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported six additional deaths after an Israeli airstrike hit a vehicle in Nuseirat, in central Gaza.

Late Sunday, Israel’s Security Cabinet unanimously approved the mobilization of multiple brigades and tens of thousands of reservists in preparation for a possible full-scale occupation of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military is expected to remain in the area for an indefinite period.

Reservists will be deployed to the occupied West Bank and along Israel’s borders, allowing active combat units to move into Gaza.
