Kathimerini Cyprus to launch Eleni Xenou's ''XEIROGRAPHO''

Press Release

Kathimerini Cyprus Publications is excited to announce the upcoming launch of ''XEIROGRAPHO'' (''MANUSCRIPT''), a captivating collection of handwritten stories by journalist and writer Eleni Xenou. The book will be presented on October 30, 2024, at 7:00 PM in the Kasteliotissa Hall.

"XEIROGRAPHO" is a unique anthology that takes readers on a journey through the alleys of the old town, serene seaside trips, and various travels by plane, ship, and train—each story infused with a sense of longing and introspection. The collection captures handwritten tales that reflect the beauty of everyday life, set against the backdrop of secret courtyards, echoing memories, and the poignant struggles of humanity.

Eleni Xenou invites her readers to accompany her as she navigates the world with a notebook in hand, filled with quotes from great writers. Through her observations behind closed doors and half-open windows, she explores themes of love, loss, and the quest for solace in a bustling world. As Joan Didion poignantly stated, "Life changes with every passing moment," a truth that resonates deeply throughout this collection.

"XEIROGRAPHO" features 38 stories, each accompanied by beautiful illustrations from Cypriot artist Charitini Kyriakou, enhancing the reader's experience and connection to the narratives.

The book launch will feature an introduction by Marina Economidou, director of Kathimerini Cyprus, and readings of selected excerpts by the renowned actress Erika Begeti.

Notably, the stories found in "CHIROGRAPHO" were initially published on the Kathimerini Cyprus website in a column of the same name, showcasing Eleni Xenou's literary prowess and her deep connection to her subjects.

A portion of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Pancyprian Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF), supporting a noble cause in the community.

Join us for an enchanting evening celebrating literature and compassion on October 30, 2024.
