Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who was the first public official to announce the death of Yahya Sinwar, took to social media today with a harsh message directed at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In a post, Katz addressed Erdogan, who has often expressed support for Hamas, stating, "Take back your rapist and murderer friend, Sinwar." The message was accompanied by a photo of the slain Hamas leader lying amid rubble in Rafah.
Erdogan, in recent remarks, warned that Israel’s expansionism poses a growing threat to Turkey, claiming his country is taking necessary precautions. "If Israel, which is becoming increasingly spoiled and unrestrained, is not stopped, we can foresee where this expansionism will lead. While some in our country may not see the approaching danger, we do, and we are taking all precautions," Erdogan said.
The Turkish president made these comments during a recent conference on "The Future of Palestine" organized by the International Relations and Human Rights divisions of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). He criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza, saying, "The attacks Israel launched on Gaza on October 7 last year brought the Palestinian issue back to the forefront of humanity’s agenda. The ongoing massacres in Gaza, which have claimed the lives of nearly 50,000 innocent people, mostly children and women, have once again drawn the world’s attention to the persecution of the Palestinian people."
Erdogan further accused Israel of genocide and linked Zionism to global control, alleging that Zionist lobbies manipulate global powers, economies, media, and other sectors including academia and the arts.
