Cypriot hammer thrower Iosif Kesidis secured the silver medal in the Under-23 hammer throw at the European Throwing Cup, held at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia on Saturday, March 14.
Kesidis recorded a throw of 74.16 metres, earning second place in the event and marking his third consecutive medal at the European Throwing Cup.
According to the Cyprus Amateur Athletics Association (CAAA), weather conditions were challenging throughout the competition, with heavy rain falling in Nicosia since the morning, making the event more difficult for the athletes.
The Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) congratulated the Cypriot athlete on his performance, also recognizing coach Panikos Charalambous and the CAAA for their role in the achievement.
Following the event, Kesidis described the result as the conclusion of the first part of his winter season, expressing gratitude for the progress he has made and indicating he is ready for the next phase of competition.
The silver medal adds to Kesidis’ growing record at the European Throwing Cup and continues his run of podium finishes in the competition.
