Rusting cars and forgotten wrecks are being cleared off the streets of Latsia-Geri as the local municipality pushes forward with its campaign to remove abandoned vehicles from public and private spaces.

The effort, launched under the Municipalities Law 22(I)/2022, aims to clean up the area, reduce safety risks, and improve the overall look and feel of the community.

According to a statement from the municipality, officials have already completed the first stages of the campaign, which involved identifying, tagging, and notifying the owners of the abandoned vehicles. Now, with the deadline for voluntary removal having passed, the municipality is entering the final phase: physically removing the vehicles in line with the law.

“Our top priorities are cleanliness, public safety, and improving everyday life for our residents,” the municipality said.

Residents have been thanked for their cooperation so far, and local authorities are calling on the community to continue supporting efforts to create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming urban environment.

The campaign is expected to continue over the coming weeks, with municipal crews removing dozens of vehicles that have been left to deteriorate on roadsides and in open spaces.
