A 44-year-old Greek Cypriot man will spend the next five days in police custody following allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and psychological abuse against his 58-year-old mother-in-law. The suspect appeared before the Limassol District Court, which granted the detention order to allow investigators time to gather evidence.

According to police reports, the complainant has a history of mental health difficulties. She stated to investigators that the abuse took place at her own home and was part of a continuous pattern of behavior. The woman told authorities that the suspect had been repeatedly pressuring her for sexual relations and forced himself upon her despite her continuous objections.

Law enforcement officials arrested the 44-year-old immediately after the report was filed. During questioning, the suspect denied the rape allegation and offered a different account of the events to the police.

A forensic medical examiner has already examined the complainant. Detectives have also removed physical evidence from the property for scientific and laboratory testing. The investigation remains active as officers continue to take statements and analyze the collected material.
