A 28-year-man died Friday early morning in Paphos when the car he was driving over the speed limit on Ayia Marina-Argaka road crashed into a tree.
Police said a local man was driving his car around 2am on a community road between Ayia Marina Chrysochous and Argaka, in the northwestern part of the island. At one point, the driver lost control of the steering wheel and the car veered off the road, striking the guardrail.
The vehicle then spun out of control and rolled over several times before crashing into a tree, fatally wounding the driver. He was then rushed to Polis Chrysochous Hospital, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead.
Police released the name of the driver, identifying him as Filippos Hadjifilippou from Ayia Marina.
