Authorities confirmed Wednesday that an Israeli man was found dead on a sailboat near the Protaras coastline. The National Search and Rescue Plan, known as “NEARCHOS,” was activated at 3:20 p.m. by the Cyprus Civil Defence (KSED) after the individual lost consciousness while on the vessel in the maritime area called “Islands.”
A rapid-response boat from the Coast and Naval Police was dispatched, while nearby passengers and lifeguards from the Famagusta District Administration provided first aid at the scene.
The man was transferred from the police boat to an ambulance operated by the State Health Services Organization (OKYpY) and taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
