A deadly traffic collision took place late Friday night when a man was fatally hit by a vehicle as he attempted to replace a tire on his car.
Police said the victim had stopped in the emergency lane of the motorway, close to the first exit leading toward Xylofagou, when a passing vehicle struck him.
In a statement, the British Bases Police reported that the crash occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. Due to the incident, the motorway was closed for several hours and traffic was redirected. The road was reopened shortly after 1:15 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle involved has been taken into custody, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
