Man shot dead in Pegeia during gathering

Police are investigating a premeditated murder in Pegeia, involving 43-year-old Stylianos Stylianou.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. last night, police received a tip about a shooting at a house in Pegeia. Officers responded immediately and discovered Stylianos dead inside the residence.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Stylianos was attending a gathering at the house when an altercation occurred. During the confrontation, a 50-year-old man allegedly shot him with a shotgun, resulting in fatal injuries.

The suspect fled the scene but later arrived at Paphos General Hospital with friction injuries to his legs and various bruises. He was subsequently arrested under a court warrant and is now in custody. During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime.

Authorities noted that the suspect is the husband of the victim’s sister. The Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its investigation into the incident.
