Authorities are investigating an attempted murder after a 41-year-old man was found shot in the Paphos district late Saturday night.
According to police, officers responded to a report around 9:45 p.m. that a man had been discovered injured on the main road in the village of Amargeti. When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from an abdominal gunshot wound, believed to have been caused by a hunting rifle.
The victim, a resident of Limassol, was initially transported to Paphos General Hospital and later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital for further treatment. He remains in serious condition.
Police have arrested a 55-year-old man from the Paphos district under a court warrant in connection with the case.
The Paphos Criminal Investigation Department is leading the ongoing investigation.
