Pickup truck slams into car having a mechanical failure in broad daylight traffic

A 22-year-old driver is in the Intensive Care Unit following a highway collision after his car suffered a mechanical failure outside Limassol.

According to police, a saloon car driven by the 22-year-old man with a 27-year-old passenger had a mechanical failure on the Nicosia-Limassol highway on Monday around 2:40pm, at the Pareklisia exit.

A pickup truck driven by a 69-year-old man came from behind and collided with the saloon, injuring all three men with the young driver sustaining serious head injuries, including a brain contusion and blood swelling, a jaw fractures.

The 22-year-old was taken to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital where doctors on duty ordered his admission into the ICU. His condition was described between serious and critical.

The other two men were taken to Limassol General Hospital to undergo routine medical treatment.

Police told Knews there were no arrests following the accident.
