The wife of Paphos Mayor Phaedonas Phaedonos, Louisa Andreou, has formally asked the police to terminate the ongoing investigation into her husband, officials confirmed Friday.
Police Communications Officer Christodoulos Konsolos told OMEGA’s “Enimerosi Tora” that Louisa Andreou’s letter is now in the hands of law enforcement and is under careful review.
The probe began last Sunday after documents were shared on social media by Ioanna Fotiou (Annie Alexoui), which she claimed linked the mayor to hospital records involving alleged abuse of a woman. Authorities are continuing an ex officio investigation, collecting statements from all parties involved and evaluating the evidence.
Meanwhile, Mayor Phaedonos publicly denounced the allegations as part of a “merciless war” against him, accusing an alliance of political, economic, and organized crime interests of attempting to target him and his family.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, with statements being taken and evidence assessed to determine the facts of the case.
