The British Foreign Office has announced the appointment of Michael Tatham as the new British High Commissioner to Cyprus.
According to the UK Government's official website, Tatham previously served as CEO of the 2024 UK-Africa Investment Summit. From January 2018 to July 2022, he held the position of Deputy Ambassador to the United States.
Tatham brings extensive diplomatic experience, particularly in supporting post-communist transitions and conflict resolution in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the Western Balkans. His previous roles include Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Political Coordinator and Head of the Political Section at the UK’s United Nations Mission, and British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has also served as Head of the Western Balkans Group, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Prague, and Foreign Affairs Secretary to the Prime Minister.
In his personal life, Tatham is married with one daughter. He enjoys traveling, skiing, theater, and cooking. A longtime fan of the New York Mets from his time in New York, he also has a passion for craft beer and the music of Bob Dylan.
