A mild earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.8 was recorded early Monday in the sea southeast of Limassol, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The tremor, which occurred offshore, was centered near Limassol. It was felt in parts of the city and surrounding areas but caused no reported damage or injuries.
Residents described the quake as brief and weak.
“At the office, ground floor, the whole building shook,” reported a resident in Mouttagiaka, about 11 kilometers from the epicenter.
“It was just a small jolt,” said another in Agios Athanasios, roughly 13 kilometers away.
