Two mobile firefighting units were handed over on Tuesday in Skarinou to serve communities in the mountainous regions of Limassol and Larnaca, following a joint initiative by the Lions Clubs of Cyprus and Greece.
The units are intended to improve local fire prevention capabilities, strengthen preparedness, and support rapid response efforts during natural disasters, particularly in remote and rural areas.
In a statement, the Lions Clubs said the donation forms part of their second phase of humanitarian assistance. The first phase followed the deadly wildfires of summer 2025, when essential relief supplies were sent to those affected.
The handover was carried out by Panagiotis Synodinos, Governor of Lions District 117B Northern Greece-Cyprus, together with Giorgos Lakkotrypis, Chair of the Lions Committee on Natural Disasters.
