Right. Monday. Back at it. The absolute state of it. If you’re reading this from an office, why? What went wrong? Half the island is still out there somewhere, lying on a beach like a stranded sea mammal, and you’re here, opening spreadsheets. Brilliantly done. Anyway, here’s the weather. Try to contain your excitement.
So, today starts off mainly clear. Classic. But after midday, we’re getting temporarily increased local cloud. Right. And in the mountains, they can’t even rule out isolated rain. Imagine that. You go to the mountains to escape the heat and you get drizzled on. Pathetic.
Here’s how the misery is distributed today:
Inland plains: 39°C. Absolutely pointless. Just stay inside and stare at a wall.
West and southwest coasts: 31°C. Supposedly the "cool" spot. Still warm enough to melt a wheelbarrow.
Remaining coastlines: 35°C. Sticky.
Higher Troodos Mountains: 30°C. Slightly less awful, apart from that potential afternoon rain.
Morning winds start light and variable at Force 3; gentle, harmless. Then after midday, it shifts southwesterly to northwesterly, picking up to 4 or 5 Beaufort along the coast. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. Standard sea stuff, really.
Tonight stays mostly clear, though low clouds will hang around the coast. Then, toward the early morning, we’re expecting patchy light fog or fog inland and out east. Fog. In late August. Brilliant. Winds will drop to a light 3 Beaufort katabatic breeze, which sounds impressive, but just means the air is rolling down a hill. Sea stays calm to slightly rough.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: Mostly clear, a few passing clouds, and, again, they can't rule out a bit of mountain rain after midday. Temperatures will actually increase slightly on Tuesday and just stay there through Thursday. Above seasonal average. Because why would it get nicer?
